Roblox is suing a YouTuber for $1.6m under charges that either:
- are false
- don't apply to him since they're under specific state law (he doesn't live in California lul)

interesting.

Considering how much money roblox gets, $1.6m must seem like small change

All of the charges are not; "false or don't apply to him". Making a threat online to shoot up RDC is a felony.

Defendant is a roleplay hacker who attempts to commit cybercrimes in Roblox and to its majority underage users.

He has threatened users and events made by Roblox. This caused police activity and a temporary shutdown of the Roblox developers conference (context seems this was some sort of bomb threat).

Glamorized the shooter of YT Headquarters in 2018 (I don't believe this should apply).

Repeatedly bypassing the ban system on him preventing him from accessing Roblox.

Attempting to upload nude photos of himself to Roblox, and sexually harassing players (reminder, most Roblox players are kids).

"Defendant Simon is a 24-year-old Louisville, Kentucky resident and former Roblox user with a long history of fixating on and then harassing people, including Roblox users and employees. His latest bad acts have included making terrorist threats online to intimidate and deter Roblox employees and users and hacking around Roblox’s security measures designed to block him from the Roblox Platform."

"Defendant Simon engaged his followers on Discord, glamorizing the April 3, 2018 active shooter and murder at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California and threatening/taunting a copycat act of terrorism at Roblox headquarters in nearby San Mateo, California. Defendant Simon wrote to his followers to 'wait until [someone] does it to Roblox'".

"Defendant Simon publicly posted a terrorist bomb threat to his Twitter account, knowing that the threat was false: 'BREAKING: San Francisco Police are currently searching for notorious Islamic Extremist Julius Al Mohammad. If you see this individual at RDC please call 911 immediately.' Defendant Simon posted an image below this text purporting to depict the fictitious 'Islamic Extremist' as having posted a YouTube video titled “SOMEONE BLOW UP ROBLOX NOW!” Defendant Simon made related posts, including: 'Don’t Come to RDC Tomorrow'".

"Defendant Simon intentionally circumvented chat filters to target other users with homophobic slurs and profanity, such as ' you fu cking eleven year old fa ggot '".

This shit continues, but it is very fucking clear that he is in the wrong here. Roblox is not being unreasonable.

The accusation of him making a threat to shoot up the RDC is completely false. A threat was made, but not by him; the person who made that threat has since claimed full responsibility. This is an intimidation suit to stop Ruben from talking to journalists about poor business practices.

Another example is a mention of how he "tweeted a photoshopped picture of a former Roblox employee who was openly gay, depicting him nude". This image was not photoshopped. It was on the employee's public Tumblr account. It was reposted in order to show the kind of person Roblox was hiring, on a game aimed at children. Take note at how the suit points out he was openly gay, implying this was some sort of homophobic attack, though Ruben's original post states he has "no intent or interest in shaming Jack for his sexual preferences": https://rblxwatch.wordpress.com/2016/11/...jack-post/

A lot of the other things, I am uninformed on. From the research I've done, this whole thing comes off as a SLAPP suit to me, Roblox the company is rife with unethical practices, and they are just pissed that someone is pointing them out.

Looking at what they’re suing him for, it seems that he really doesn’t have a life and just spends all of his time trolling on Roblox
