Long standing debate so I always like to ask on different boards: Hashcat or John the Ripper for cracking hashes? Why not both? Anyone have a good cloud solution or shared resource project (think the SETI) project for shared processing?
#2
If one of them Hashcat over john just quicker and I think can decrypt more algorithms But since you will likely run into other algorithms I would recommend working with custom tools
